Bringing People,
Books, and Ideas Together
This is SO much more than your neighborhood reading group!
Delmarva Discussions is a nonprofit literary organization
offering scholar-led book discussion series for adults at public
libraries, museums, retirement homes, and other sites throughout
Delaware and the Eastern Shore areas of Maryland and Virginia.
Participants sign
up for the series at the hosting site and check
out and read each of the series’ books—which are provided
to the sites by Delmarva Discussions—then attend the discussion
of each book. There are no books to buy and there are always plenty of copies at the hosting site.
Discussions are lead
by scholars and experts from colleges, universities, and organizations across the region. These leaders
don't lecture. hey provide context, background information, and questions; the emphasis is always on discussion
and exploration, giving all participants a chance to share their opinions and experiences.
All the series revolve around a central theme, tying each book and discussion session to the next and the last. Some of the sessions include a writing or film component. All of the sessions are entertaining ways of enhancing the reading experience!
