We Bring People, Books, and Ideas Together!
Providing high quality humanities programming to the Delmarva Peninsula.
Scholar-led book series have never been so easy for libraries, museums, retirement homes, schools, and other community centers to offer! With literary programming types based on a thematic structure, venues across the peninsula can choose to offer their patrons and supporters reading/discussion groups, book and film discussions, or writing programs based on specific literature. At Delmarva Discussions, we strive to offer full
service to our clients.
"We all wanted more–it was excellent!
I read books I might not have read on my own.”
– A program participant |
No other program offers the kind of assistance
to busy site staff that Delmarva Discussions does. We provide all of the books within a series to the sites, coordinate all scholar participation, pay
the scholars, and supply everything that the sites need to run the
programs successfully, from fliers to press releases to evaluation
forms. The Project Director visits programs to evaluate them, reviews
all evaluation forms, and continuously assesses the quality of all
our series.
Delmarva Discussions service to the community is unquestioned. We develop new series
of interest to our particular audiences and seek grant funds to run programs at a lower cost to the host sites. We also loan our titles to community centers and groups for their own program development needs. We work with other agencies promoting literature and literacy on Delmarva. We have formed partnerships with the Delaware Center for the Book, The Big Read, Rehoboth Beach Film Society, and the Delaware Book Festival. These and other community activities have expanded our reach and service to the communities we serve.
