Discussion Series for Museums
Delmarva Discussions' reading/discussion series
format is designed to help both patrons and scholars strengthen
their love of literature and the humanities, examine their values
in a group context, and share their life experiences. There
are a number of series particularly suited for use by museums
and other history related organizations. As book discussion
groups have gained popularity, Delmarva Discussions has grown
and now makes it easy for history related organizations to take
advantage of the full-service programming libraries have used
for years.
For venues hosting a series, Delmarva Discussions
provides a way to offer quality programs without strain on limited
resources. This can be especially valuable to historic sites
who are notoriously understaffed and under budgeted! The programming
is 6 to 10 weeks of educational, relevant and entertaining activities
for adults, lead by qualified scholars who know the information.
They also know how to get and keep an audience involved in the
activity, making them want to come back for more. Sites also
have no need to purchase books or require participant to find
them, as Delmarva Discussions provides multiple copies of the
books in the series! Plus posters, camera-ready flyers and brochures,
and even the press releases to promote the discussion sessions
and find the audience! Many venues have found Delmarva Discussions
programs the perfect way to highlight and accompany their collections
or special exhibits.
Now, Delmarva Discussions has even more series
suited to the history museum. Each series is composed of themeatically
related books - sites can offer 5 books for 10 weeks of programming,
or choose three for 6 weeks:
